Gabriel Jesus has returned to Arsenal‘s training sessions after recovering from a knee injury he suffered before the Community Shield at the end of July.
The Brazilian underwent a minor procedure to address a lingering issue caused by a medial collateral ligament injury he sustained during last year’s World Cup. Despite this setback, he seems to be getting closer to making a comeback.
In a video captured by Sky Sports, the former Manchester City player was seen participating in warm-up exercises ahead of the team training. Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, explained the rationale behind the procedure.
Arteta stated, “He is fine obviously he was very disappointed, he was feeling very good and this issue came up.
“Nobody expected it and we had to do a little procedure there. But unfortunately, it was the best thing to do.”
“[To do it] as quickly as possible the better. We made that decision. I’m sure he will be back soon and very fit.”
In the absence of Jesus, Eddie Nketiah took on the role of central striker. Nketiah scored the opening goal against Nottingham Forest and also won a penalty to secure a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park last weekend.
For Jesus to have any involvement in the upcoming Fulham match, his recovery this week would need to be remarkably swift.
However, there is a possibility that he might be fit in time for the following week’s game against Manchester United. An international break will follow, offering more time for further fitness enhancement.
Mikel Arteta is scheduled to address the media tomorrow, and he is expected to provide an update on Gabriel Jesus’s condition. For live updates and a complete transcript of the Arsenal manager’s statement, you can refer to the Pengman Sports website.
