Manchester City and Pep Guardiola have reportedly set their sights on Brighton star Kaoru Mitoma as their potential addition for the upcoming summer transfer window.
This comes after securing Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol’s signings, the latter being acquired from RB Leipzig for a reported £77m.
Following Riyad Mahrez’s departure to Al Ahli and ongoing speculation surrounding Bernardo Silva’s future with links to FC Barcelona and PSG, City is actively seeking wide players.
The Daily Star reports that Mitoma has impressed Guardiola with his performances for Brighton, making him a candidate for Manchester City’s winger shortlist before the transfer window closes on September 1st.
Mitoma, a left-winger who has limited experience on the opposite flank, might not be the ideal replacement for Mahrez. Other players like Michael Olise and Jeremy Doku, who are also rumored to be on Manchester City’s wishlist, would be better fits for that role.
Instead, if Mitoma were to join Manchester City, he would be competing with Jack Grealish for a spot in the starting XI. Grealish had a remarkable season previously, making him a strong candidate for the team.
Considering the likely high transfer fee Brighton would demand, the deal seems improbable without a significant change in circumstances.
