Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, is taking steps to address the ongoing issues within the team’s dressing room. The club has experienced a challenging start to the 2023/24 season, suffering eight defeats in 15 games, marking their worst season start in 61 years.
Rumors about Ten Hag’s future at the club have been circulating, with reports suggesting he is on “thin ice” at Old Trafford. Despite this, Manchester United has denied exploring alternatives to Ten Hag, labeling such reports as “categorically false.”
To address the unrest within the team, Ten Hag has initiated one-on-one meetings with his players, aiming to improve squad harmony, as reported by The Sun. These meetings, described as “clear-the-air” talks, will involve discussions about issues players have with the manager, his staff, teammates, and training sessions.
Also, Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay have acknowledged the team’s desire to please the fans. “I feel like the players feel that whenever we go back inside the dressing room – the anger is towards ourselves and also the anger is towards not pleasing the fans and giving them what they want,” he said.
He expressed confidence in the manager’s ability to address the team’s performance issues.
After a recent 3-0 defeat to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup, Ten Hag took full responsibility for the poor result and vowed to raise the team’s standards for future matches.
