Moises Caicedo is having second thoughts about a move to Liverpool, according to Sky Sports News.
The Ecuador international had been expected to complete a £110m move to the Reds after they hijacked Chelsea’s interest in the midfielder.
However, Caicedo is now reportedly concerned about the lack of playing time he would get at Anfield.
The 20-year-old is currently behind Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, and Thiago Alcantara in the Liverpool midfield pecking order.
Caicedo is also said to be worried about the physical demands of the Premier League.
He has only played in one top-flight season, for Brighton last year.
Liverpool are still hopeful of completing the signing of Caicedo, but they will need to convince him that he will get the playing time he needs.
If they are unable to do that, he could end up staying at Brighton or moving to another club.
The news of Caicedo’s second thoughts will be a blow to Liverpool, who were hoping to add him to their midfield this summer.
The Reds have already signed Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho, and Calvin Ramsay this summer, but they are still looking to strengthen their squad further.
Caicedo would have been a good addition to the Liverpool midfield, but it is clear that he is not convinced about the move.
It will be interesting to see if Liverpool can change his mind, or if he ends up staying at Brighton or moving to another club.
