Manchester City put on a brilliant performance against Bournemouth winning 6-1 and claiming the top spot in the Premier League. The standout of the match was Belgian winger Jeremy Doku, who not only scored a goal but also provided four assists, leaving Bournemouth in the dust.
The action began when Doku orchestrated a goal on the half-hour mark, playing a slick one-two with Rodri and then finding the back of the net. He then set up Bernardo Silva for the first of his two goals just moments later. The third goal came as Doku’s shot was deflected into the net by Manuel Akanji.
The second half saw Doku’s influence continue, as he set up Phil Foden for City’s fourth goal. Bournemouth managed to pull one back with a goal from Luis Sinisterra, but Manchester City quickly capitalized on a break, with Doku sending a long ball forward for Silva, who executed a brilliant finish.
The sixth and final goal was headed home by former Bournemouth player Nathan Ake, putting the game well out of reach for the visitors.
The victory propelled Manchester City to the top of the Premier League, moving one point ahead of Tottenham Hotspur. Despite losing Erling Haaland to injury at halftime, the dominant performance by City left no room for doubt regarding their title ambitions.
City defender Nathan Aké praised Doku’s exceptional performance,”He [Doku] is not shy to show his abilities, he wants to take everyone on even in training. He’s so difficult to mark and he’s going to be important this season,” told Sky Sports.
While Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola felt the result was harsh, Manchester City’s relentless attack and clinical finishing secured their position at the top of the league.
